It is recognized very slowly (in our country, on average, within 4 years), while in the meantime, it causes, among other things, unjustified pain during menstruation in young girls, infertility in 30-50% of untreated cases, serious complications with the development of adhesions and scarring, and even changes requiring more serious surgical treatment in the case of tumor surgery. To my great joy, in 2022, the ESHRE Guidelines also included imaging studies (ultrasound, MRI) as the "gold standard" for the diagnosis of endometriosis, replacing the previous diagnostic laparoscopy (laparoscopy), which could save women suffering from this disease from having to undergo many unnecessary surgeries. Guidelines are useful, but science is currently developing so dynamically that by the time a new guideline is ready in 4-5 years, it is unfortunately already outdated, e.g. with the explosion of microbiome research and artificial intelligence, we can get to a diagnosis as soon as possible with even less invasive, painless techniques!
